Quick Facts
This itinerary is built for travelers who want a real safari without committing to a long overland circuit. Saadani is unique because wildlife habitat meets the Indian Ocean, giving you bush, beach, and river scenery in one compact trip.
Expect guided game drives, a Wami River boat safari when conditions allow, relaxed coastal moments, and simple logistics from Dar es Salaam. The pace can be adjusted for families, couples, or small private groups.
Game drives in Saadani National Park
Wami River boat safari
Indian Ocean beach sunrise
Birdlife, giraffe, antelope, elephants, and possible big cat sightings
Easy road access from Dar es Salaam
Stop 1
Depart Dar es Salaam after breakfast and drive toward Saadani. Arrive for lunch, settle in, then head out for an afternoon game drive across coastal bushland before dinner and overnight near the park.
Stop 2
Spend the morning exploring Saadani by 4x4 with your guide. In the afternoon, enjoy a Wami River boat safari when water and park conditions allow, watching for hippos, crocodiles, birds, and riverbank wildlife.
Stop 3
Start slowly with sunrise on the coast or a short nature activity, then drive back to Dar es Salaam. Optional extensions can add Bagamoyo history, Zanzibar, or extra safari nights.
Saadani is one of the easiest ways to add wildlife to a Tanzania trip when time is tight. It also combines well with Bagamoyo, Zanzibar, or a longer southern circuit itinerary.
